My 34th with a Purpose
“Why not use your birthday to change the world?” This is what the Lord has put on my heart lately. Just like he put it on my heart to move to Rwanda, write a book, and many other little projects. I have lived in Rwanda for a year now working for Africa New Life Ministries. Everyday I fall in love with the people, my co-workers, my job, and all the little details God puts in front of me to notice. When He says ‘move’…I move.
Over the course of my first year here my heart has been pressed with helping our severe medical cases. I was honored to care for and support sweet Rachel and her family before her journey to Austin,TX for surgery. She opened my eyes and changed my life in a matter of seconds. When I recently went back to Austin for 5 weeks I looked down the escalator to see this face waiting for me:
This brought tears of joy. This sweet little girl would have died if God and many amazing co-workers didn’t advocate and fight hard for her life.
Even my sponsored child, Jean Claude, is one of our medical cases. He is constantly being cared for by our team of nurses here on the ground in Kigali and loved by many others in America.
While I was in Austin I found out one of the kids I was helping had passed away. My heart felt like it shattered into a million pieces. The thought of not seeing Daniel when I came back to Rwanda broke me. This was when the Lord said I needed to be part of our medical clinic. I have to fight hard for our children and help make a difference in their lives. I want them to have amazing lives and become future leaders of this country.
Once I returned to Kigali, Daniel was still on my heart. But, I always knew God crossed our paths for a reason. The day I got to tell Daniel’s little brother that he has a new sponsor, I ran into their amazing Dad on the way out of Kageyo. Tiny miracles!
It’s the little things in life…when you stop and notice the gifts the Lord puts in front of you. It makes me excited for what’s to come and more excited to see our medical clinic up and running next year!
For my 34th Birthday, in lieu of gifts or material items, I would like to raise $34,000 for the Africa New Life Medical Clinic to help children like Rachel, Jean Claude, and sweet Daniel. All donations are 100% tax-deductible through Africa New Life.
All I want for my birthday is to provide amazing health care and treatment for the children of Rwanda.
I am challenging all my friends, family, mentors, co-workers, and loved ones to make a donation to our medical clinic. My goal is to raise $34,000 by my birthday 8/8/15!!! I have complete faith in the Lord and know He will use you and many people around the world to make this dream for our children here come to life! Let’s give hope and a new life to the children of Rwanda! Join me on this crazy adventure and let’s see mountains move!
